Daniel's pages

Hello and welcome to Daniel's pages This is where Daniel gives his say about what the Barging Baileys are up to:
I shall firstly give you my view about the start of the adventure; At the start I barely knew what was happening, I never thought that we would actually bring the boat over to France, but now it was happening I was excited but at the same time sad to be leaving my friends. Soon we were off and there was no stopping it, this was a new adventure...
Now skip a year and I'm in the last year of the French junior school and today is the 3rd of January 2012. It is our first day back at school after the winter holidays and so far it has been going really well!! We always start off the morning with a music lesson where I sing with two other boys and all the girls in the class, while everybody else sings the backing track and the head [our teacher] plays the guitar.
That's all for this entry, I'll write again soon!!
Daniel's pages, Wednesday the 4th of January 2012:Hurray, it's a Wednesday and today there is no school because on Wednesdays we have a day off!!
Normally on a Wednesday morning I have basketball lessons which our head teachers gives to anybody in our year group!! Unfortunately these lessons have been cancelled for every Wednesday  from now until the 25th of january, our next lesson will be on Wednesday the 1st of Febuary. Boo Hoo!!
I forgot to mention that on Tuesday and Friday evenings I do a Judo lesson with some of my friends from school and lots of other kids from other schools in the area. Our teacher is called Jean-Phillipe de la rue, which is strange because de la rue means 'of the road'!! He is very clever strong and devoted to the club, I can't think of anyone else who could do that job as well as he does!!
I didn't think I would like Judo at first but now I really enjoy it, I think that I'm improving every lesson, which shows because on the 16th of  December he awarded me a yellow and white belt and I am very proud of myself!!
That's all for this entry, I'll write again soon!!
Daniel's pages, Wednesday the 11 of January 2012:Sorry about the lack of entries recently, I just haven't had the time to write!!
Still no basketball, but this morning there is something worth seeing, a Pudding club!!I really hope I win!!
I entered the boating community's third pudding club.  I had entered the last two times and came second in both.  This time I really wanted to win and... I did!! The prize was ten euros and in the next pudding club I will be the judge!!
That's all for this entry, I'll write again soon!!
Daniel's pages, Saturday the 14th of January 2012:We were up early this morning so we could fit in a two hour drive to the mountains to go skiing!!
I really love skiing and today, we got to get passes to go through Switzerland, which was great, I really loved it!!Skiing in Switzerland costs a pretty penny, we can't do it often!!
When we had got on the slopes, we headed straight for Switzerland. The start was slow but, afterwards, it became steep and I could go really fast and overtake everyone which I really love!!Unfortunately, that speed was lost when I got caught in some horribly strong winds which came and ruined our first bit of skiing on the Swiss Mountains.  Luckily, the rest of the day went well and we were really tired out at the end of it!!
That's all for this entry, I'll write again soon!!
Daniel's pages Friday the 27th of January 2012:I haven't been very well recently, I have caught a fever which has been spreading round school like a silent bullet!!
Today, a man called Jean-Paul came to film us at lunchtime to see how we lived on our boat. We had to pretend that school had finished though!!We had to do imaginary homework too!!
At our lunch break, Jean-Paul arrived to film us, there was a lot to eat for lunch as we had to act as if we were having the French 'gouter' [snack].
That's all for this entry, I'll write again soon!!
Daniel's pages, Tuesday the 31st of January 2012:Tonight, there was a quiz night for the River Rats community!!
This quiz night was going to be our chance to do the best!!Read this note, to learn what happened!!
I love River Rats quizzes, this one was going pretty well for our family team, we had an average score of about 7 out of 10 correct.Unfortunately, only Dad and I had received the school fever and Callum surprised us by suddenly looking up and running to the toilets, he was ill and we had to leave the quiz early.Oh well, it happens!!
That's all for this entry, I'll write again soon!!
Daniel's pages Wednesday the 14th of March 2012:This morning I judged yet another pudding club: It was a tough decision, all the cakes were good!! There were only four entries because everyone is away. The winning cake had been made with blueberries, it was one of the best cakes I have ever tasted!!It turned out to be mum's cake, which means I will have some serious trouble making a cake for the next competition, because judges aren't allowed to see who made which cake!!
That's all for this entry, I'll write again soon!!
Daniel's pages Tuesday the 20th of March 2012:Today must have been one of the best school days of my life!!We have got a big cross country run coming up soon and every sports lesson is running now!! Science and history are the worst lessons in school, so when we found out we would have them both in the same day we were not very happy!!
Today I set the class record for metres run in 12 minutes, 2100 metres, that is a lot!!Today it turned out it would be the best history and science lessons of our lives, in history we watched a film about knights and in science we dissected dead frogs. It was great fun [though maybe it was not that fun for the frog] but everyone agreed it was the best possible finish to a great school day.
That's all for this entry, I'll write again soon!!
Daniel's pages Monday the 2nd of April 2012 : Good news...watersports are back on the timetable at school. This morning was sunny and we went canoeing in the Saone. I shared my canoe with my friend Ryan and I had great fun splashing him. I stayed dry!! Two more canoeing sessions to go this week. Even better, later this term we are going out all day in the canoes and taking a picnic on the riverbank. That sounds like a perfect school day.
That's all for this entry, I'll write again soon!!
